Bringing Generations Together

Linking Generations Northern Ireland inspire and support the growth of an Age-friendly society through connecting older and younger people.

Intergenerational practice aims to bring people together in purposeful, mutually beneficial activities which promote greater understanding and respect between generations and contribute to building more cohesive communities.

Building Cohesive Communities

Since 2009, LGNI has led the way in promoting and supporting intergenerational activity in Northern Ireland.

LGNI has been instrumental in influencing and supporting intergenerational practice in the statutory, private and voluntary sectors as well as building an evidence base to influence policy.

Empowering Communities

Linking Generations Northern Ireland believes that intergenerational connections thrive best when communities are empowered with the tools and expertise to grow and nourish them from within.

Through the delivery of tailor-made projects, networking events, training programmes and the provision of advice and support, LGNI builds capacity within communities and organisations equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and ideas necessary to implement their own intergenerational solutions in their communities they live and work in.

Creating an Age-friendly society

Sharing the Learning

LGNI coordinates a community of practice through eleven local intergenerational networks with a membership of over 600 people and organisations. Networks bring together local people, communities, organisations and policy makers interested in bringing generations together.

LGNI network meetings enable members to find out about intergenerational opportunities, share ideas/learning, access training, support and resources.

A Catalyst for Social Change

In a world where age segregation has become the norm with young people in schools, older people home alone and adults clustered in workplaces, LGNI views intergenerational practice as a catalyst for social change.
